Multiple Intelligences

The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Howard Gardner is an alternative to the concept of intelligence as an innate ability, general and unique, which allows individuals to higher performance or lower in any area. Gardner points out that all have varying degrees of each of the intelligences and different ways in which they combine, organize and utilize these intellectual abilities to solve problems and create products. Although these brains are to some extent independent of each other, they seldom operate in isolation.

The core components of linguistic intelligence is a sensitivity to the sounds, rhythms and meanings of words, plus a special perception of the different functions of language. It is the ability to use language to persuade, please, stimulate or convey ideas. In children, this ability is manifested through the ability to tell original stories or to report accurately experiences.

This intelligence manifests itself through an ability to appreciate, compose or play a musical piece. Includes sound discrimination, ability to perceive musical themes, sensitivity to rhythms, textures and tone, and ability to produce and / or play music. The small child with special musical ability realize early different sounds in their environment and often sings to herself.

The core components of this intelligence are described by Gardner as a sensitivity to patterns, order and systematization. It is the ability to explore relationships, grades and standards, by manipulating objects or symbols. It is the ability to deal with sets of arguments, to recognize problems and solve them. The child with special aptitude in this intelligence demonstrates facility to count and do math calculations to create notations and practices of his reasoning.

Gardner describes spatial intelligence as the ability to perceive the visual world accurately and space. It is the ability to manipulate shapes or objects and mentally, from the initial perceptions, create tension, balance and composition, a visual or spatial representation. In children, the special potential that intelligence is realized through the ability to puzzles and other games and spatial attention to visual detail.

This intelligence refers to the ability to solve problems or create products through use of part or the whole body. It is the ability to use coarse or fine motor coordination in sports, performing arts or plastic in controlling body movement and manipulation of objects with dexterity. The children particularly gifted in kinesthetic intelligence moves with grace and expression from musical stimuli or verbal shows great athletic ability or coordination thin ascertained.

This intelligence can be described as an ability to understand and respond appropriately to moods, temperaments, motivations and desires of other people. In its earliest form, interpersonal intelligence manifests in children as the ability to distinguish people, and its most advanced form, such as the ability to perceive intentions and desires of others and to respond appropriately from that perception. Specially gifted children demonstrate early an ability to lead other children, since they are extremely sensitive to the needs and feelings of others.

This intelligence is the ability to have access to their feelings, dreams and ideas, to discriminate them and throw their hands in the solution of personal problems. It is the recognition of skills, needs, desires and intelligences themselves, the ability to formulate an accurate picture of oneself and the ability to use that image to function effectively. How this intelligence is the most personal of all, it is only observable through the symbolic systems of other intelligences, ie, through demonstrations linguistic, musical or kinesthetic.

The naturalist intelligence is described as the ability to recognize patterns in nature, identify and classify objects and numerous species, understanding natural systems and those created by man.
